Free Jazz at its best. Only discovered Tim Berne recently. I love the tension between structure and improvisation on this live album. You get extended really crazy improvisations out of which a structured driving riff will appear. Its really thrilling! Like tension exploding! So yeah, I love Bloodcount but I realise this wont be for everyone 😁. Crinklechips

Ken Vandermark is one of my 'big five' and this new(ish) project (four albums now) is already shaping up to become somewhat definitive.
I try not to use superlatives to describe music I find it necessary to your well-being to listen to but sometimes you have to admit it's the only way to go: a brilliant diamond in the dust.
It's akin to igniting rocket fuel... the momentum is unstoppable and it engenders the aural equivalent of arc-light. John Cratchley

This quintet has acquired legendary status as a working unit...all the musicians are exemplary at their craft and DD is one of my 'Big5'...he is an exquisite composer of both depth and breadth of vision...you can instantly recognise Dave's DNA in a tune...what's more, you feel there is also so much more to come!;his powers of expression are so special.
These compositions are from the heart and I can only suggest that you take them to yours...
