Olga Kivius "Audio One" is the excellent K.Vandermark's new project for free-jazz large ensemble. This is already its 3rd recording. I suspect, it's not necessary to say that all these albums sound powerful, amazing and extremely creative, all the members are musicians of high-class level and this shouldn't surprise that they make the outstanding music. Vibraphone adds some unusual flavour that reminds me to ECM releases of 1970s, while drums sometimes almost cross the boundaries of modern jazz-rock. Great!

John Cratchley A total gem from Ken Vandermark's Audiographic Records imprint.
He writes quite brilliantly for large ensembles (for my money, the best there is in this department) and has the ability to constantly bring out the absolute best from his collaborators....(4/5ths of the V5 are present here as well as a fair amount of the rest of Chicago's finest).
This stuff is so hard to do well, let alone exceptionally (as in this instance)!
Live and unrepeatable; a unique document that defies categorization...
Support this label please, it is immediate, momentous and necessary music.
